Description
This study will be adapting a family centered intervention, the Family Check Up (Dishion & Kavanaugh, 2003), to reduce the risk of future alcohol and drug abuse among children (12-14) with presenting emotional/behavioral problems. This intervention assesses family strengths and weaknesses utilizing principles of motivational interviewing. Follow up interviews are conducted at 3- and 6- months after their first meeting to explore outcomes.
