NIAAA Center Grant; Subcontract from Boston University
Description
The NIAAA awarded a grant for this study to Jonathan Howland at Boston University, with a subcontract to Brown University. This project studies the effects of drinking enough beer to result in a .12 breath alcohol level on academic performance (neuropsychological abilities and classroom tasks) the next morning. The study also investigates role of sleep disruption (using polysomnography) as a mediator of these effects. Young healthy adults will receive beer and a nonalcoholic beer on different nights, sleep under supervision, then engage in tasks the next morning. The study is being conducted at Boston University.
