Description

This project is a continuation of a NIDA R01 grant that was first awarded to Dr. Tidey in 2001. Co-Investigators on this project are Drs. Rohsenow, Swift and Kaplan. In this study we are testing the separate and combined effects of nicotine replacement and sensorimotor replacement on smoking behavior in people with and without schizophrenia. This project will expand existing knowledge concerning factors that affect smoking in people with schizophrenia and heavy smokers without current mental illness. In turn, this information could be used to develop novel treatment strategies for these smokers.
